What an amazing little place!
The storm clouds have disappeared and the view from here on the terrace of the castle – the last thing I was expecting – is stunning.
After the 2,50โฌ beverage, I crossed over to the tourist office and enquired about budget accommodation. They sent me in the same direction as the Rough Guide, the Pensione Italia in the heart of the old cobbled streets. What a find! An Italian lady welcomed me; she didn’t speak English so I cranked up the Italian and got myself a room for 35โฌ. She asked if I were a pilgrim and I said ‘si e non’ to cover all bases. There was no discount in it however… The room, with a window in the roof is just what I need after all those days of camping. I don’t know what I am looking forward to most; having a good feed in a local restaurant or having a good sleep in a bed. The former will no doubt only enhance the latter. So might the antihistamine tablet I took earlier. I suspect it might make me a little bit drowsy… Yawn…
