There are a good number of illustrations – photographs and drawings – in Max’s book, Traveling Light… which is a little mysterious. He makes no reference to carrying a camera on his travels through Europe – see the page dedicated to his kit – so where did the photographs come from? His publishers? (Some appear to be perfectly-framed postcard pictures.) People he met along the way? Some of the photographs have been, err… ‘enhanced‘ a little with what appears to be a bicycle drawn onto the photograph. Here’s an example:
