The sun has set over another academic year…
For the second half of the 2015/16 school year I have been working at The Brooksbank School in Elland as a maths / French / cover teacher. It also happens to be the school that I attended myself, far too many years ago. It’s been an interesting experience going back there as a teacher and time will tell if I return in the future. It’s also an interesting place in terms of the school’s commitment to cycling as a sport. A couple of years ago funding was secured to build an outdoor cycle track close to the school which is regularly used by students but also outside organisations. You may remember I mentioned the open day event that I attended back in May. I even made a videoย (see below). Today, the summer edition of the school’s magazine was published and it’s good to see that the event gets coverage, along with a few remarks from yours truly. I don’t think many students realise that the person being quoted is actually the same person they may have met in lessons…
Over the course of the summer, the track is being used for some holiday coaching sessions and you can find more information about these on the British Cycling websiteย (the ones listed as being in Halifax).
