The great & the good of the International Olympic Committee family decided to stay put this morning. It was either that or they had decided to join the estimated 1 million people in Hyde Park to watch the men’s triathlon. For the IOC people it wasn’t far to go from their Park Lane hotels and they didn’t need the BMWs so I escaped the Games Maker shift early and joined the masses in the park, to begin with by the Serpentine where spectators could see manic splashing as the triathletes passed, green-capped & heads bobbing in the water. I watched the cycling and the running on a big screen and shouted my delight to see gold and bronze medals go to the Brownlee brothers of West Yorkshire. Where does that put my home county on the medals table I wonder…
