HammEdventures: “You Are Coming With Us Every Step Of The Way”

Since this website was created back in 2008 – over 16 years ago (scary!) – I’ve been contacted by hundreds of people asking questions, offering advice and giving their opinions. One of the first people to contact me was Chris Hammersley. In 2009 he was planning to travel along a similar route to my own in 2010 from the UK to the south of Italy. From memory, I think he ended up travelling a few weeks behind me. In fact he did! I’ve just been trawling through the CyclingEurope.org archive and he set off on August 9th 2010. And I’m delighted to see that the website that he set up 15 years ago is still going strong!

We’ve kept in on-off contact over the years although I don’t think we’ve ever met face-to-face. He’s based near Derby. Anyway, he’s just been in contact and has sent me the link to a couple of charming videos in which his young children tell the story of their cycle tour this summer. They are delightful and hopefully there will be more of them to come. Make sure you subscribe to his YouTube channel, HammEdventures. (If he gets 1,000 subscribers, Chris has promised to buy his son a drone but I think we all know who really wants to buy a drone. You’re kidding no one Chris…). And here are the two videos:

  1. I almost came to one of your talks and there is a perpetual hope of going to the Cycle Touring Festival but it hasn’t happened yet!! Hopefully our paths will cross one day!
