CURRENT LOCATION: Yes, still at home…
But I am packed! I can thoroughly recommend gradually gathering your kit together in your living room in the weeks before the off. The packing process is much easier and all those ‘have I remembered…?’ questions have (hopefully) been answered well before the off. As for the clichéd ‘kit pic’ I’ve taken a slightly different approach, as you can see below. I set off tomorrow lunchtime; train from Halifax to Hull and then the overnight ferry to Rotterdam…

Here’s a more traditional ‘kit pic’ from a few days ago, limited to the tech. More details here.

Andy, you’re taking enough electronics to open a branch of Curry’s!
Remarkably light!
Outstanding, can’t wait for you to start and getting my daily fix from posts and updates.
Thanks Jeff. No pressure… 😊🚴♂️
Bon voyage Andrew, looking forward to your podcasts detailing your adventure. I’m packing tomorrow AM, cycling to Harwich port from Colchester in the late afternoon. Always leave things late!
Thanks Shaun. Where are you heading?
We are heading firstly to North Rotterdam, staying there for a few days, then to Leiden a few days later. Back next Friday. Just a mini tour because my son isn’t a regular cyclist, unlike myself. Your books and podcasts have inspired me to make the change from committed roadie to wannabe cycle tourer! I’m 50 next year so aim to get on with the latter over the coming years!!
Sounds like a good plan – I’ll look out for you as I cycle south from the Hook of Holland! Have a good trip 🙂
