I’ve decided that, as an extra motivation to keep cycling (especially when I get to The Alps!) that it makes sense for my efforts to help support a charity. Over the last month I have been avidly watching Springwatch on the TV and then caught the BBC “Wild Night In” programme last Sunday. It was a mini-telethon raising money for the BBC Wildlife Fund and it struck me that it would be a great charity to support; working across the World (including the UK) to support small projects that help protect the diversity of the animal kingdom. And in doing so, supporting the local communities who live and share their environments with the animals in danger. On my daily commute to work I myself benefit from getting up close to the nature of South East Oxfordshire and it makes my cycle a fantastic little journey. I would hate to think that any of the animals that I see every morningย are in danger of disappearing but know that somewhere in the World it is happening on a daily basis…
Find out more about the BBC Wildlife Fund here. Support them via my cycle by following the Just Giving link over there on the right. And a big thank-you if that’s what you choose to do! Ta. ๐
(By the way: I’ve set my target at ยฃ390 as this represents 10 pence for every kilometre that I will have to cycle along the Eurovelo 5 route.)
