There are a lot of online bikeshops out there these days. How do you choose the best one for your needs? It can be tricky, but it’s definitely not impossible. In this blog post, we will discuss some factors to consider when making your decision. We’ll also provide a few tips to help make the process a little bit easier for you. So, whether you’re looking for your first bike or just need to replace an old one, read on!
Consider what type of bike you need
It’s important to consider what type of bike you need when choosing an online bikeshop. There are a few things to keep in mind, such as the size of the bike, the type of terrain you’ll be riding on, and your budget.
If you’re looking for a mountain bike, for example, you’ll want to make sure the shop has a good selection of mountain bikes. If you’re planning on riding mainly on paved roads, a road bike might be a better option. And if you’re on a tight budget, there are plenty of affordable options available.
Once you’ve decided on the type of bike you need, it’s time to start looking at individual online bikeshops.
Do your research – compare prices, read reviews, and ask friends for recommendations
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing an online bikeshop. First, it’s important to do your research and compare prices. You can do this by looking at reviews online or asking friends for recommendations.
Second, make sure to read the reviews of the shop before making a purchase. This will help you get an idea of the quality of products and services they offer.
Finally, ask around for recommendations from friends or family who have purchased bikes online before. This way you can get some real-world feedback about the shops you’re considering.
By following these tips, you’ll be sure to find the best online bikeshop for your needs.
Do your research and make sure that the online bikeshop is reputable
There are a few things you can do to make sure that an online bikeshop is reputable. First, look for shops that have been in business for a while and have a good reputation. You can also read reviews from past customers to get an idea of the quality of service offered by the shop.
Another thing to look for is an SSL certificate. This is a sign that the shop takes security seriously and encrypts your personal information when you submit it.
Finally, make sure that the shop accepts secure payment methods like PayPal or credit cards, and that they have a secure checkout process.
This will help protect your personal information and ensure that you’re getting what you paid for.
Make sure the shop offers a good return policy in case you change your mind
It’s always important to choose a shop that offers a good return policy in case you change your mind. You should be able to easily and quickly return the bike if it doesn’t fit or if you don’t like it. Make sure to ask about the return policy before you buy, and keep in mind that most shops only allow returns within a certain amount of time after purchase.
Look for reviews from past customers to get an idea of what kind of experience you can expect. And be sure to contact the shop if you have any questions or concerns before making your purchase.
Compare shipping costs and delivery times to make sure you’re getting the best deal
First, look at the estimated shipping costs from the shop. These should be listed on the website or in the checkout process. Make sure to compare these estimates with actual shipping costs once you receive your invoice to ensure accuracy.
Second, check the delivery timeframes offered by the shop. Most shops will have standard and express shipping options, so make sure you choose the option that best meets your needs.
Check to see if the shop offers any discounts or loyalty programs
Many online bikeshops offer discounts and loyalty programs. For example, the shop may offer a 10% discount to customers who purchase a certain number of items or who have been customers for a certain length of time.
Some shops also offer loyalty programs that give customers points for every purchase that can be redeemed for discounts or other rewards. To find out if the shop offers any discounts or loyalty programs, simply call customer support for more information or check the shop’s website.
Be aware of warranty policies and how long they last
Many times, products come with a limited warranty that only covers certain parts of the product or that has a specific time frame during which the warranty is valid.
If you’re looking to purchase a product online, it’s important to do your research and find an online bike shop that has a good reputation.
This way, you’ll know that you’re getting quality products and that the store will be there to help you if something goes wrong with your purchase.

Unfortunately a large chain which shall remain nameless undercuts local shops until they go under. In the case of the local bike shop I used to go to where I bought my beloved Dawes Kalahari many years ago its rent was increased dramatically a few years back by the local council and that caused it to go down.
So; go online, spend hours checking out alll the ways you can save money and when you’ve got a problem run off to the local bike shop and get them to dig you out of the sh1t. You’ll be no better off.
Good advice. Iโm a cycling instructor and have met many people whoโve bought a bike online especially during and just post lockdown.
Some are fine but some are either the wrong type of bike, poorly assembled or the wrong size. In some cases a partner or other relative has bought the bike as a present without the involvement of the rider. These are often the worse examples!
It can be a mine field but navigable, thereโs no real substitute for a try before you buy at a local bike shop.
Totally agree Peter and we need to support LBSs otherwiseโฆโฆ.
