Cycling Europe 2019: Day 2, Reading To The Isle Of Wight

If I ignore the shenanigans with the trains this morning, today has been a wonderful day of cycling. It had it all; great weather, interesting places, majestic landscapes, dramatic seascapes, bucolic cycle paths. Iโ€™ll be back after you take a look for yourself:

I imagined the Isle of Wight to be fairly flat, despite people having told me that it was hilly. I should have listened to them. But these are enjoyable hills. Gentle inclines in the main followed by descents that give you a few moments to catch your breath. Hereโ€™s the route profile:

Over around 50 km of cycling, only 300 metres uphill but a similar number downhill but constant flipping back and forth between ascent and descent. Rather enjoyable. Here is the route in full.

The Needles were sillily busy do I didnโ€™t hang around very long. There were plenty of treats elsewhere, especially at the Off The Rails cafรฉ in Yarmouth. The chocolate brownie didnโ€™t survive long…
