Starting to think about my walking holiday in the Alps. I set off next Thursday, driving down to Geneva to join a group who will have arrived by plane. From there we go to Chamonix and walk the classic ‘Haute Route’ to Zermatt in Switzerland. More details here.
Not for the first time, I’ve laid out my kit, in this case the electronic / optical kit for no other reason that it makes for a cool photograph. The full list of 25 items is below…
From left to right we have:
- Mini iPad
- Mini iPad keyboard
- Continental adaptors
- Petzl head lamp
- GoPro 3-way mount and waterproof housing
- GoPro Hero 4 Silver (inc. 64GB micro SD card)
- Canon EOS 100D camera (inc. 16GB SD card) and 18-55mm zoom lens
- SD card to iPad adaptor
- GoPro USB cable
- Extension back cover for GoPro waterproof housing when using battery ‘bacpac’
- Gorilla tripod (inc. GoPro mount)
- GoPro adhesive mount
- Micro SD converter
- GoPro battery ‘bacpac’ and container
- 16GB SD card
- Canon battery charger
- Apple plug
- Apple USB lead
- iPhone 6
- GoPro USB lead
- iPhone earphones
- Lead for Canon battery charger
- PowerMonkey Extreme battery pack
- AAA batteries (for head lamp)

The walk is ‘assisted’ (i.e. someone is driving our kit from place to place) so not everything will need to be carried every day. Have I missed anything? Any comments?
