The debate this morning on the Radio 5 Live phone in is whether “motorists are the country’s cash cow”. I texted in saying that I cycle from Reading to Henley every day and that people are far too ready to trot out the adage that “I can’t live without my car”. A few moments later, the mobile phone rang and some chap calling from the BBC asked for a few more details and then said that the studio would call me back if they could slot me into the programme. I wasn’t really expecting a call back but they did! Live to millions… It’s quite bizarre. You can listen to what I said on the iPlayer – I was interviewed at about 9.45am.
