Markus Stitz is on his travels again, this time en route back home to Germany for Christmas and he’ll be passing along the Yorkshire coast to help publicise a new route that is going to be launched in January 2024 called Route YC. Not sure if it’s a different route to the traditional route along the Yorkshire coast that I followed myself back in 2019 (it was Wanda’s first ride) that included the Cinder Track from Scarborough to Whitby. Follow Markus’ progress in the next few days and I suppose we’ll find out…
“Round the world cyclist and ‘Great British Gravel Rides’ author Markus Stitz will embark this Friday (15 December) on a 1,100km journey by gravel cargo bike from Edinburgh in Scotland to Erfurt in Germany. He will be joined for two days by Guinness World Record Holder Mark Beaumont to cycle a new touring route from Staithes to Hull, which has been developed as part of development of cycling routes on Route YC on the Yorkshire Coast, due to be launched in late January 2024. Markus will document his journey in a short film and daily updates on Instagram, X (Twitter) and Facebook, while his progress can be tracked on the Route YC website and Follow My Challenge.”

Here is the story of my own cycle along the Yorkshire coastline back in 2019 – there was even an episode of the podcast (number 009):
