Sounds pretty much like my experience of Albania, except I had as much rain as you seem to be having sun. Being uncertain of the traffic I took a back road to Tirane but the surface was so bad I rejoined the main drag and stuck to the main roads the rest of the time I was there. Maybe I was lucky with my route but I didn’t find them too bad, although roads branching off looked little more than dirt tracks. Nor did I find the driving too bad – overtaking drivers gave me more room as they went past than most drivers would back here in rural Worcestershire. I felt quite safe on the roads here. I do agree that the people are very nice. Good beer and coffee too.
