Data courtesy of the the Via Michelin website “by bike” option. It adds up to significantly shorter than the official Eurovelo 5 route which, according to Wikipedia, is supposed to be around 3,900 kms. I suspect, however, that the Michelin figures simply keep cyclists off where either they shouldn’t be (motorways) or where they would not prefer to be (very busy A roads). The rest is fair game and they don’t lead you down cycle paths if available.
Comments please!!!!!

Looks good. Out of interest, why have you bunched days together?
Beacuse I started out by wanting to know the distance as worked out by Michelin. I only later decided to see how it looked across the six week period and estimated the days it would take me to cover the distances. The towns in the list are the major places that the Eurovelo 5 route passes, not necessarily those places in which I will stay. That said, I do want some interesting places to be in on my “rest days”.
Siena!
Thanks for pointing this out – I have changed my spelling to keep consistency with the other Italian names in the list (Roma etc…). However, the English spelling of Siena is Sienna (just like Rome for Roma and Milan for Milano etc…). ๐
