Good question. And a complicated answer. I have just turned 39 and am beginning to enter a “mid-life crisis”. Summer 2009 is too short a time to make the changes I want to make to my life. In two years however, I think I have a chance. Cycling to Puglia will require me to be fit. Cycling to Henley and back four or five times a week is one thing, but cycling 50 – 100 miles a day for three to four weeks will require me to move to the next level of fitness (if not the one after that!). I will have no choice but to get in serious shape. Actually, it is not that complicated.
