Fiuggi

Fiuggi is a nice find. Even nicer when it’s the place you manage to get your iPhone working again. It also thinks big; I have just had a couple of sandwiches (they were sandwiches, not panini, complete with the crusts removed!) in the Gran Caffรจ Martini and just opposite is the strikingly out-of-place Grand Hotel, painted pale pink and cream. It looks like something transported from Monaco into this medieval village.
This morning’s ride really ticked all the boxes of what I expected to see on a cycle trip to Italy. Dramatically different to what has gone before; wide open valleys with views as far as the eye can see and only a few tens of kilometres from the Roman metropolis.
I’m about two-thirds of the way to Sora and it’s now just after 2 o’clock. I’m in no rush… Will set off around three. An ice-cream in tempting, then a snooze..,
