Traveller and cyclist Pete Martin has written a new book and if you follow this link you can read an extended extract here on CyclingEurope.org. The publisher has provided the following below. For anyone travelling along Eurovelo 15, the Rhine Cycle Route, it’s probably worth a read.
“This is an extract from Revolutions: Wandering and Wondering on a Sabbatical Year by Pete Martin which has recently been published. This extract describes his journey cycling the northern part of the Rhine between Neuweid (near Koblenz) to Rotterdam. Pete has also now cycled most of the river routes throughout Germany and Austria.
His book is a compelling tale to deal with change and to follow your dreams. Pete is open and honest as he embarks on his healing road, giving the reader a sense of the real life fears in coming to terms with transition. For anyone who has been divorced, lost their job, seen their children grow up and leave or is just plain stuck, this is a revolutionary tale and an insight as to what could be.
Whilst this is not a cycling book, the book does include chapters describing him cycling the Way of the Roses, the length of the Rhine (from Lake Constance to Rotterdam) and also around Sri Lanka. Pete also travelled to the Caribbean and to India. Then to fulfil a dream, Pete circumnavigated the world by train and ship. These journeys taken during his sabbatical year are described in the book, in he which deals with the fears of change as well as the joys of travelling.
