Well, that’s what it was called when I was growing up; it’s a great name isn’t it? Imagine other races being named after drinks; The Beer Race, The Orange Squash Race, The Bloody Mary Race… None of them works quite so well as ‘The Milk Race‘. It’s now the much more prosaic ‘Tour Of Britain‘ & it kicks off next week in Ipswich. Much shorter than its continental cousins – it finishes in Guildford after eight stages in different parts of the country – it does however boast Mr Tour de France himself, Bradley Wiggins & Mark Cavendish. It will be worth watching. The Milk Race was defeated by European laws on competition, or rather its sponsor, the Milk Marketing Board was but it lives on… Here’s the promotional video & the map:
