Good Vibrations: The TV Advertisement

Replay: Henley-on-Thames To Reading

Thought it was about time the video of my commute home from Henley-on-Thames to Reading got another airing. It was made back in 2009 and I am thinking about doing a remake with my new Biologic iPhone 4 mount for Reggie’s handlebars (as discussed a few days ago in this post); apart from being a ‘holder’ for the phone, with a few twists and turns, it will probably make an excellent tripod as well!

Shit Cyclists Say…

From YouTube;

“We’re uniting a million voices to improve the future of biking. Join us by signing the pledge for better biking at www.peopleforbikes.org.
Take the Peopleforbikes.org pledge: “I am for bikes. I’m for long rides and short rides. I’m for commuting to work, weekend rides, racing, riding to school, or just a quick spin around the block. I believe that no matter how I ride, biking makes me happy and is great for my health, my community and the environment we all share. That is why I am pledging my name in support of a better future for bicycling—one that is safe and fun for everyone. By uniting my voice with a million others, I believe that we can make our world a better place to ride. Sign the pledge by following this link.”

Why Are Cyclists Using Video Cameras?

I have similar encounters to this guy a lot less regularly, mainly due to the fact that I normally cycle to work at 6am. (Yes, I am an idiot.) However, on the occasions when I do cycle during rush hour, I have to say that it’s a regular occurrence. That said, I have found a new way of venting my frustration; I stop in the road (especially if I am able to block the person who was about to run me over)… and stare, silently at the perpetrator of the mad driving. I like to see them squirm in embarrassment, especially if others are around. Not always though; I do shout from time to time but I’d like to think that my bleep count would be a little less that the cyclist shown here. He does need a chill pill…

Antelope Hits Mountain Biker

I’m terrified of this happening to me with a deer en route to Henley in the morning. There are lots of them about on the Berkshire-Oxfordshire borders!

Phenomenal Cycling

“Eurovelo Project”

Here is a slick, if functional video about Eurovelo 8, The Mediterranean Route and Eurovelo 7, The Sun Route. It could really do with some stirring motivational music to liven the whole thing up. And a translation into English of the Italian bit at the start and the end. My Italian mirrors the functionality of the video…

Helmet Cameras

From the London Cyclist blog

I think in this case, it really was an “accident” – the driver was not travelling at speed and the conditions were not good. London Cyclist does give a good link to another of his blog posts about helmet cameras. Interesting. I’ll come back to these at some point in the future. Returning to the video itself…how did the guy refrain from shouting “you f****** t***”?

Henley to Reading by Bike…in 4 Minutes (again)

I posted this back in August 2009 but it is worth re-posting. I just watched the whole thing again after visiting Youtube to see the new Lady Gaga video (who hasn’t?). It reminds me of the joys of cycling in the summer (my video not Lady Gaga’s). There are some signs of spring; I saw some daffodils earlier in the week and the temperatures have begun to be in double figures again. I can’t wait for the clocks to change (although a few weeks of dark mornings will be a jolt back to the short days of January). The video for those of you who haven’t seen it before shows the return leg of my daily commute reduced down to 4 minutes.

Inspired Bicycles

Amazing! This guy has apparently been approached to appear in a Hollywood film.
