Stage 1: Reading to East London

OK, the detailed planning has started! Not before time you might think (I set off four weeks tomorrow…). I will write notes about each day on a double page of my Moleskine notebook so that I can refer to them en route. I will then scan and post to eurovelo5.com for safe-keeping (and should anyone else be interested!). Day 1 is the easiest to plan and doesn’t have much detail as I am familiar with much of the route… I’ll also put a link to each of the scans in the “route” page, in order to find them easily should I need to.

Final(ish) Version of the Itinerary

Thanks to Massimo for some comments regarding the route south of Rome. The bit between Como and Rome remains sketchy – I have suggested on the itinerary itself that I leave the detail until I actually arrive in Italy; is that wise? You can see that I do have a little buffer zone at the end of August although, of course, I do need to be back in the UK for the 1st September. I’ll travel home on trains. Slow ones. :)

Updated Itinerary

Not quite finished (well, not finished at all; I have the whole of Italy still to do!) but made good progress…

J’adore les Swisses / Ich liebe die Schweizer / Amo gli svizzeri

I love the Swiss! I couldn’t find the Swiss Romansh for “I love the Swiss” so if anyone can let me know, I’ll add it so that the whole country can benefit from my opinion. Why? Well, I have mentioned on here the Swiss National Cycle Network website and it is a good one. Bit it’s just become brilliant! Have a look at this….

Amazing, n’est-ce pas? Note to every other national cycle network in Europe; do the same! It makes my route planning so much easier…. Hopefully an update on that a little later….
