Cycle2Liberty: Crossing America On A Bike With Two Saddles

Screen Shot 2014-02-08 at 13.41.20It’s a while since I’ve had any WarmShowers visitors but last Monday I had two. They weren’t however travelling separately, in fact they were travelling very much together, on a tandem (which just managed to squeeze into the flat & spent the night in the place where my own bike Reggie Ridgeback – still being at the cycle shop for repairs until last Wednesday – is normally parked) and en route to Paris. Their names were David Simms and James Hesketh and they are planning to cycle across America from San Francisco to the Statue of Liberty in New York (hence the name of their adventure). David is an estate agent in Leeds and James works for the Environment Agency in Sheffield but both have their origins ย in North Yorkshire. Prior to their big trip across America they are putting in some practice by doing some shorter cycles on their tandem; the Coast to Coast route which they have already done, a trip from Leeds to Paris that they attempted last week (although they didn’t manage to make it all the way to Paris due to the weather – the ferries from Newhaven were cancelled) and they will soon be completing the Lands End to John O’Groats route. They plan to leave San Francisco in July. It’s all in aid of the Youth Sport Trust. Please support them by visiting their website, liking their Facebook page or following them on Twitter. They are aiming to raise ยฃ25,000 and you can donate via their Virgin Money Giving page. Good luck to them both!1380148_1425954294294077_1266144939_n
