A while back, I posted something about a geography teacher called Lisa from London who was hoping to cycle to the Arctic Circle this summer. She is currently in Oslo by the looks of it – see her website for details. When we exchanged emails she said that although the initial plan was to use bamboo bikes made in Zambia, they weren’t going to be ready in time so they would actually be using traditional bikes. It’s perhaps a pity she didn’t get in contact with Oxford Brookes University School of Technology (perhaps she did!) who appear to have succeeded in making bamboo bikes.
