The New Decathlon in Reading?

Is one of France’s best exports coming to Reading? And not only that; opposite the back of the block of flats where I live? I have long evangelised about the joys of the sports & outdoor shop and there are a few up and down the country here in the UK – in London, Nottingham and the North West. I never imagined that one would open literally on my doorstep. The flat building in this picture – disused for quite some time – is being gutted and there is an A4 notice on the hoardings outside with, in the corner, the Decathlon name….

  2. So glad to see that a store will be opening in Reading only 20min from my home. After living 6km from a huge store in France I really missed it when we moved here. Especially the winter clothes for kids are good quality for little money and I have even handed them down to friends kids still looking as good as new. I will be there on Friday.

There are three Decathlon superstores in Rome, and I’m a big fan. It’s like Ikea: quality’s average, but prices are quite low.
We might visit one of the Roman stores together when you’re here, if you need spare parts or something else.

    • Yes, good idea Marcello! You must email me your full contact details before I leave on Sunday if possible. Should be in Rome mid-August – keep following the blog to see where I am!
Look forward to seeing you soon. :)

  5. C’est bien mais Décathlon fait partie d’une grande chaîne dont la motivation première est la réalisation de bénéfice souvent au détriment de la structure manufacturière de nos pays.
